New here? Here is a little more about us!

Hi there! Welcome!

Our names are Susie & Heidi. We live and work in Los Angeles, CA (specifically in the San Fernando Valley)
We are are sisters (2 years apart)
We founded Rock Scissor Paper in 1993 (how is that possible?)
Being a small independent business is something to be very proud of. We get to wear a lot of hats and do things that we would never have an opportunity to try because there is no one to say "That's not part of your job description". Working this way, you get to own all of your successes, and also all of your failures. We truly wouldn't have it any other way; but to be really honest it is also very, very challenging. There are so many forces working against small companies like ours that we feel like we are reinventing the wheel every couple of years to survive. So much pressure from cheap imports that drive the perceived value of products down, payment terms, arbitrary tariffs, cash flow and supply chain worries just to name a few of our stressors! What keeps us going are the wonderful relationships we have made with our customers (both retail & wholesale). We still get a thrill from every order that we receive, every like, every share, every photo. These things keep us going! So THANK YOU!

Heidi & I have always been "Makers". We have been playing "Store" our whole sister lives. So it is no surprise that we ended up here designing and making things. We started this company so many years ago as a side gig, but quickly realized that we wanted it to be more. Our Dad owned a fabric manufacturing plant here in Los Angeles in the 1970s & 80s. We grew up going to work with him on the weekends; doing odd jobs there to help out. It seemed very natural to us that as a family, we had this business. Looking back at it, no one around us supported themselves this way. So we're guessing that being self employed is something we were born into...it's part of our DNA. Our Dad passed away a couple of years before we started RSP, so he never got to see what we created. We know that he would have been really proud of all of our hard work, commitment and longevity. That’s a little about us!

Thanks so much for sticking with us!
